Food Waste Digestate-Based Biorefinery Approach for Rhamnolipids Production: A Techno-Economic Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The present work evaluates the techno-economic feasibility of a rhamnolipids production process that utilizes digestate from anaerobic digestion (AD) food waste. Technical feasibility, profitability and extent investment risks between fermenter scale its operating strategy for was investigated in study. Three scenarios were generated compared: using single large (Scenario I), two small fermenters operated alternately II) or simultaneously III). It found all economically feasible, Scenario III most profitable since it allowed optimum operation with utilization multiple small-scale equipment to reduce downtime each increase capacity overall productivity. had highest net value, internal rate return shortest payback time at discount 7%. Finally, sensitivity analysis conducted indicate how variation factors such as feedstock (digestate) cost, selling price, extractant recyclability influenced economics. provides important insights on performance waste valorization which would be useful guide sustainable scale-up.

Plant-based biomanufacturing of therapeutic proteins is a relatively new platform with a small number of commercial-scale facilities, but offers advantages of linear scalability, reduced upstream complexity, reduced time to market, and potentially lower capital and operating costs. In this study we present a detailed process simulation model for a large-scale new "greenfield" biomanufacturing f...
متن کاملStochastic techno-economic analysis of alcohol-to-jet fuel production
BACKGROUND Alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) is one of the technical feasible biofuel technologies. It produces jet fuel from sugary, starchy, and lignocellulosic biomass, such as sugarcane, corn grain, and switchgrass, via fermentation of sugars to ethanol or other alcohols. This study assesses the ATJ biofuel production pathway for these three biomass feedstocks, and advances existing techno-economic anal...

Fossil fuel shortage is a major challenge worldwide. Therefore, research is currently underway to investigate potential renewable energy sources. Biodiesel is one of the major renewable energy sources that can be obtained from oils and fats by transesterification. However, biodiesel obtained from vegetable oils as feedstock is expensive. Thus, an alternative and inexpensive feedstock such as wa...
متن کاملTechno-Economic Analysis of Biofuel Production from Macroalgae (Seaweed)
A techno-economic evaluation of bioenergy production from macroalgae was carried out in this study. Six different scenarios were examined for the production of different energy products and by-products. Seaweed was produced either via the longline method or the grid method. Final products of these scenarios were either ethanol from fermentation, or electricity from anaerobic digestion (AD). By-...
